For transports commissioned at the Haiterbach site, the logistics provider's trucks emitted 16,612.0 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in 2018 according to the tank-to-wheel calculation method. In contrast, the company saved 16,773.8 tons by using solar energy in the same period. In this way, the logistics company completely offsets the carbon dioxide emissions of its fleet in Germany.

In focus: modernization of the vehicle fleet
"We are proving that transport can be realized in a sustainable way and still be economical. Because we are aware of our responsibility to protect the environment," says Theo Schuon, Managing Director of Alfred Schuon GmbH. For the company, regular modernization of the vehicle fleet is the linchpin for the implementation of environmentally friendly transport. In the past three years alone, Schuon has invested tens of millions in renewing its fleet.

Driver training and efficient vehicle technology round off the green logistics strategy
In addition to the low-emission engines, the solar panels on the roofs of all company buildings are an important component of the green logistics strategy. As a result, the logistics company has saved a total of 16,773.8 tons of carbon dioxide within one year. "The number of our solar systems in relation to the size of the company is already enormous. We plan to continue investing in low-emission vehicles and other sustainable strategies in the future," says Schuon. Other components of the green logistics strategy include regular driver training and optimized vehicle technology.
