Eurogate Intermodal expands network

Eurogate Intermodal (EGIM) is expanding its service portfolio. From January, the company will be offering up to seven departures per week between the German seaports and Budapest for international container transportation in combined transport. Four of these round trips per week are direct services between Germany and Hungary. EGIM handles up to three connections per week via the Munich hub.

Lars Hedderich, Managing Director of EGIM, comments: "From January, we will be offering our customers additional flexible transport options between the northern and western ports and the Hungarian market. In future, we will also be connecting Italy more closely to our existing network via our Munich hub."

Connection between Budapest, Rotterdam and Antwerp made possible
The direct services between Germany and Hungary offer a transport option with a transit time of less than two days. Thanks to the additional traffic routing via the hub in the south, EGIM customers also have numerous further transport options at their disposal. The hub services via Munich enable new connections between Budapest and the western ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. For the first time, Budapest is now also connected to Melzo/Milan, from where there are also further connections to the Ligurian ports. In this way, customers will benefit from additional, more flexible connections within Europe in future.

EGIM is using the Hungarian railroad company Floyd Zrt. based in Budapest, in which EGIM holds a majority stake of 64%, for the service expansion. Floyd acts as traction provider on the core route between southern Germany and Hungary. Through this cooperation, EGIM also offers intra-Hungarian antenna services via Budapest as part of the expansion of its services. EGIM's interests in Hungary are represented by I.C.E. Transport Hungary.
