Long truck
Drent transports with crown
The transport and removal company Drent from Ureterp in Friesland in the Netherlands has been using a long truck for transport to and from Scandinavia for several months now. This is Drent Transport's response to the increased transport volume. Both the dolly and the trailer were supplied by Krone.
As Drent can drive the long truck on designated routes through Germany, the company has new opportunities. "As we often combine several removals and general cargo transports on our tours, we are now even more flexible with the combination of truck with swap-body platform including tail lift and dolly with trailer. In Oslo, we have an area where we carry out reloading and re-couple our vehicles. Additional swap bodies are also available there, so we can plan particularly efficiently and are now even more effective on the road with our new long truck."
Drent opted for the new long truck due to the excellent business relationship with Krone. "We have already had excellent experiences with the company and Krone products. In addition, Krone also has a great deal of expertise when it comes to the approval of long trucks in Germany. We deliberately opted for a rigid dolly with a slewing ring. This variant works smoothly and is also a legal requirement in Sweden. The Krone Dynamic Wheel Base Control system (drawbar load reduction) automatically reduces the load on the trailer axles when cornering. In combination with the Scania tractor unit including steering axle, this ensures that we can easily comply with the turning circle of 12.50 meters prescribed by law in Germany. Our long truck was built entirely in accordance with German requirements, with all additional safety systems such as a reversing camera."
The closed trailer is a Krone Dry Liner Li, the Li stands for lightly insulated. The trailer is 280 cm high on the inside, with three rows of lashing rails embedded in each side wall. The trailer was built entirely at the Krone factory in Lübtheen. The rigid dolly is fitted with extra-wide 445/45R22.5 tires. At Drent's special request, the connections for light and air were moved to the rear of the trailer in Boonstra Transport's workshop. In addition, Drent Transport had the rims painted in two colors and the combination was designed with an appealing advertising message. The visual impact of the vehicle is important to Drent Transport and the result of the complete train is a really beautiful combination, not least thanks to the Scania R650 Highline tractor unit, which was supplied by Scania dealer Rinsma in Drachten.
