Utility vehicles: 69 apprentices start the new training year at Gebrüder Weiss

Lauterach, 13.09.2017 - Despite the tense situation on the apprenticeship market, the international transport and logistics company was able to maintain the number of newly recruited apprentices at a consistently high level in 2017: 69 young men and women recently started their training in Austria, Germany and Switzerland (2016: 60). Gebrüder Weiss currently offers a total of six apprenticeships:

Freight forwarding clerk, freight forwarding logistics specialist, operational logistics specialist, IT technician, office clerk, professional driver.

"As one of the best training companies in the country, we have a lot to offer young people. Even in times of a shortage of skilled workers, this offer is accepted by many young people," says Monika Mandl, Head of Human Resources Development Region East at Gebrüder Weiss. In order to illustrate the wide range of training opportunities to career starters, the company provides targeted information at apprenticeship fairs and presents its job profiles on social media channels such as Whatchado, Facebook and its own careers website:

.

Gebrüder Weiss clearly focuses on two educational pillars for its trainees: Acquiring professional competence in theory and practice on the one hand, and promoting personal competence on the other. A large number of internal and external knowledge seminars, language courses, team-building activities and excursions are designed to provide apprentices with comprehensive training and strengthen networking across national borders. Social projects also play an important role during the training period. "As part of our corporate values, it is also important to us to convey social responsibility to young people. Being able to rely on well-trained specialists is essential, but making our corporate culture tangible and generating commitment among our apprentices is at least as important," says Mandl. Gebrüder Weiss currently employs a total of 219 apprentices at 29 locations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. red
