TU Hamburg-Harburg and Jungheinrich Foundation establish Logistics Research Center

The Dr. Friedrich Jungheinrich Foundation and the Dean's Office of Management Science and Technology at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) will strengthen their cooperation in the field of logistics. The long-standing successful cooperation between the Dr. Friedrich Jungheinrich Foundation, Jungheinrich AG and the TUHH will be intensified in future in the form of a Logistics Research Center supported by the Foundation. A state-of-the-art research laboratory for technical logistics will be established under the umbrella of the center and a number of cooperation projects will be coordinated.
"With the establishment of the Logistics Research Center, the Dr. Friedrich Jungheinrich Foundation is making an important contribution to the promotion of research and teaching in the field of logistics. We are certain that the new quality of cooperation will quickly bring visible success for both sides," says TU President Prof. Dr. Antranikian.

Thomas Heyn, Chairman of the Dr. Friedrich Jungheinrich Foundation: "We are very pleased that we were able to establish the Logistics Research Center with the Hamburg University of Technology, our renowned scientific partner. The Logistics Research Center sets new standards in science and fits in perfectly with the foundation's purpose - the promotion of science, research and education in the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical/electronic engineering and logistics.
Research focus on logistics and mobility
Prof. Dr. Thomas Wrona, designated Dean of Studies for Management Sciences and Technology, draws particular attention to the positive impetus for teaching in the Dean's Office. Various joint activities are planned for the Bachelor's degree course "Logistics and Mobility" as well as the Master's degree courses "Logistics, Infrastructure and Mobility" and "International Industrial Engineering and Management", which will not only teach students about technical logistics in a theoretically sophisticated way, but also in a contemporary way using elaborate practical laboratory experiments. In addition to this cooperation, the research focus "Logistics and Mobility", in which the TUHH bundles cross-deanery research projects for the design of sustainable value creation through the development of future-proof logistics and transport systems, will also be strengthened.
