Part of the system: two fully automated high-bay silo warehouses. Jungheinrich accompanied the realization of the solution, from planning to construction. One of the special features of the facility is a deep-freeze warehouse with a total of 1,152 pallet spaces, in which Grifols stores blood plasma at minus 35 degrees Celsius.

The storage and retrieval machine was specially designed for use in extreme temperatures and reaches a height of 14.3 meters. The load is picked up crosswise using a double shuttle. The second silo high-bay warehouse is designed for the safe storage of medical products at a cool plus 5 degrees Celsius and offers space for 2,972 pallets. The storage and retrieval machine used here reaches a room height of up to 26 meters.

The complex is designed for both Euro and US pallets and is controlled by the Jungheinrich Warehouse Control System (WCS). The Jungheinrich solution maps all administrative processes as well as the prescribed final quality controls in Grifols' medical supply chain.
