Groundbreaking ceremony
New shuttle warehouse for BSH Hausgeräte in Dillingen
The ground-breaking ceremony for a shuttle warehouse for household appliance specialist BSH Hausgeräte recently took place in Dillingen, Bavaria. TGW Logistics will build a highly automated small parts warehouse there by spring 2027. This will supply production with components reliably and quickly. More than 50 shuttle robots will ensure that the required components reach the assembly workstations at the right time.
BSH Hausgeräte GmbH employs 60,000 people and achieved a turnover of 14.8 billion euros in 2023. Around 1.9 million dishwashers rolled off the production line at the plant in Dillingen in 2024. The material flow is also being redesigned as part of a revised factory layout. A highly automated shuttle system plays a central role as a buffer for the production supply. More than 50 shuttle robots reliably store and retrieve components. The workstations can thus be supplied with the required components just-in-time. The concept also relies on a forklift-free environment in final assembly - paving the way for the use of automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
High performance and optimized use of space
"The automation in combination with the optimal use of space thanks to the five-deep storage in the shuttle enables high efficiency," emphasizes Johann Steinkellner, CEO Customer Unit Central Europe at TGW Logistics. "We are very pleased that we were able to convince BSH with our concept. This is already the second collaboration at the Dillingen site for TGW Logistics - and we are confident that more will follow."
