TGW Logistics recently handed over a highly automated intralogistics system to FEGA & Schmitt Elektrogroßhandel GmbH. With the investment in the logistics location in Heilsbronn, the electrical wholesaler benefits from shorter throughput times and an efficient flow of goods.

As an electrical wholesaler, FEGA & Schmitt supplies trade, specialist retailers and industry. As part of the Würth Group, the company operates 61 branches across Germany and achieved a turnover of EUR 985 million in 2024. Due to the company's strong growth and continuous development, FEGA & Schmitt decided to invest in a highly automated shuttle system.

The material flow was redesigned for this purpose - from incoming goods to storage, picking and packing through to dispatch. The result is an increase in efficiency thanks to lean processes, short throughput times and an optimized maintenance concept.

Third project with the Würth Group

At the heart of the solution is a six-aisle shuttle warehouse with 160,000 storage locations. A network of energy-efficient KingDrive conveyor technology connects the individual areas of the fulfillment center. Also part of the project: packing workstations, a shipping sorter and the Warehouse Control System (WCS), which controls and monitors all processes. "The distribution center for FEGA & Schmitt is the third collaboration with a Würth Group company," emphasizes Martin Waldenberger, CSO of the Customer Unit Central Europe at TGW Logistics. "Our experts have already taken future expansion steps into account in the design of the facility, allowing our customer maximum flexibility."
