Manhattan Associates announces that Dutch textile retailer Zeeman has selected Manhattan Active Warehouse Management for its central distribution center in Alphen aan den Rijn in the province of South Holland.

This is part of a supply chain transformation that will enable Zeeman's European store network to deliver to stores faster, process e-commerce orders more quickly and improve warehouse efficiency. Zeeman operates 150 stores in Germany.

Zeeman was founded in 1967 by Dutch entrepreneur Jan Zeeman to sell high-quality clothing and textiles at a reasonable price. This principle is still the foundation of the Zeeman brand and its network of around 1,300 stores in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Austria and Spain. The challenges of managing thousands of stores and fulfilling e-commerce orders across Europe exceeded the distribution and supply chain capacity of the previous systems. This prompted Zeeman to enter into discussions with Manhattan Associates.

"To meet consumer expectations in the next decade, we need a more agile and flexible supply chain network," says Schelte Halma, Director of Logistics at Zeeman. "Until now, we have been using a warehouse management system (WMS) that we developed ourselves and that has served us well for many years. However, looking to the future, we recognized the need for a best-in-class solution and were impressed by Manhattan's expertise in the retail industry and the innovative order streaming and cross-dock capabilities of the Manhattan Active Warehouse Management solution."

Schelte Halma continues: "Thanks to Manhattan's cloud-native warehouse management solution, we will be able to automatically manage the flow of orders in the distribution center more effectively based on capacity and cut-off times - increasing throughput and asset utilization."
"The microservices architecture on which Manhattan's new WMS is built allows regular updates and innovations to be implemented in the shortest possible time, so that we can realize an agile, professionalized and future-proof supply chain process," concludes Schelte Halma.

"Even though shopping habits and trends have changed recently, the reputation of the brand that Jan Zeeman has built remains firm," says Pieter Van den Broecke, Managing Director at Manhattan Associates Benelux and Germany. "The continued innovation, scalability and agility of our cloud-native Manhattan Active Warehouse Management solution will enable Zeeman to continue to keep pace with changing consumer trends. We are delighted to be working with such a popular Dutch retail brand as they continue to transform their pan-European supply chain processes."
