Timocom sets new record in December

On December 15, 2020, one million freight and cargo space offers were posted in Timocom's Smart Logistics System. This figure not only marked a high shortly before the start of the new lockdown.

Peak values have already been reached shortly before Christmas in previous years. In addition to the seasonal influence, both the lockdown and Brexit are possible drivers of the trend. Last March, there were already high supply figures before the start of the first nationwide lockdown. The scenario of a no-deal Brexit with increased stockpiling in the UK also has an impact and correlates with a similar trend that was observed in the first quarter of 2019.

Previously, the peak figure was up to 750,000 international freight and cargo space offers per day. Since the one million mark was broken on December 15, 2020, the number of offers has consistently exceeded this previous record. The figures in the Smart Logistics System once again illustrate the extent to which logistics acts as a lifeline and pulse meter for the current situation in the economy.

"This new record also shows us that we are an important partner for our customers, no matter how challenging the times are. We continue to pay as much attention as ever to the quality of the companies and security in our network. These aspects are always a very high priority for us," says Tim Thiermann, Managing Director of Timocom.
