Knapp supports Frutura with a 24/7 SAP EWM hotline
Since December 2020, Knapp IT Solutions GmbH has been supporting the main warehouse of Frutura Obst & Gemüse Kompetenzzentrum GmbH in Hartl, Austria, with its SAP EWM hotline. Another location in Vorchdorf, Austria, will follow at the end of 2021. The ITIL-certified hotline service is available to all SAP EWM installations, including those from third-party providers.
The international range of the food production and marketing company Frutura includes more than 4,500 different fruit and vegetable products. From its headquarters in Hartl and its site in Sattledt, both in Austria, the company supplies all of the approximately 1,600 Austrian branches of the Spar supermarket chain. Every day, 70 trucks drive to the warehouse in Hartl. The Sattledt site currently handles around 15 percent of this volume. A new warehouse in Vorchdorf is planned for 2021, which will handle a similar volume to Hartl.
Frutura uses SAP S4/HANA with embedded SAP EWM for warehouse management and the associated requirements for transparency and traceability in the origin and production of fruit and vegetables. All operational processes are mapped in the system landscape via mobile devices (RF terminals), from goods receipt and quality control to handling unit management, wave release and picking through to inventory, packaging and goods issue. Around 200 SAP EWM users from Frutura are currently working in the warehouse management system. Due to the size of the orders and their punctual delivery, Knapp has been providing 24/7 support for the warehouse in Hartl and Sattledt since December 2020 and for the site in Vorchdorf from the end of 2021.
The warehouses were transferred to Knapp hotline support in stages over the course of a month. This approach enables the Knapp hotline team to also provide support in the individual versions of Frutura's SAP EWM. An evaluation workshop was held in advance for this purpose. A customized offer was developed on the basis of this workshop. Frutura and Knapp are aiming for a long-term partnership. For this reason, Knapp is also planning to optimize the warehouse management system for the main Hartl site from January 2021 and extend it to the new warehouse in Vorchdorf from the end of 2021.
