The DB Schenker branch uses carbmee's carbon management software to increase transparency in its supply chain. With the help of the carbon management software, DB Schenker is able to integrate data from third-party providers (3PL), which are responsible for delivery fulfillment, and from logistics providers (4PL), which manage third-party providers on behalf of DB Schenker. The evaluation of the data serves as the basis for a decarbonization strategy and is a prerequisite for identifying options for action to reduce emissions for DB Schenker's customers. After the test phase of one year, an expansion to other customers is planned.

With the Environmental Intelligence System, DB Schenker can assess the costs and benefits between carbon reduction, carbon costs and general costs to ensure a sustainable and profitable value chain for the company.

"Since we started using carbmee's EIS platform, we have full transparency on 100% of our annual emissions and can pinpoint our CO2e hotspots - be it for transport types, shipping routes, countries or brands we deliver to. The EIS platform also allows us to collaborate with our customers to jointly reduce emissions and share the costs of CO2e reduction initiatives fairly," explains Daniel Kramm, Global Project Teamlead at DB Schenker, Stabio.

Berlin-based carbmee GmbH uses AI and automation technology combined with LCA methodology to identify hotspots and take targeted measures. The platform offers a dashboard that can be used to visualize results for improved interaction with customers.

"The use of software to determine CO hotspots and specifically review opportunities to reduce emissions - what is known as carbon management - creates the urgently needed prerequisite for making sensible reduction measures attractive for every business model. After all, a significant proportion of global CO2 emissions originate from the value chains of large companies," says Prof. Dr. Christian Heinrich, founder of carbmee.
