Some like it robust
As one of Europe's largest specialist distributors of POS and Auto-ID hardware, Jarltech supplies resellers in more than 26 countries. The robust Getac T800 tablets in combination with the Windows 10 Pro operating system were the perfect choice for the tasks at Jarltech's Frankfurt logistics center.

Over the last 20 years, Jarltech has developed into one of the largest specialist distributors of POS and Auto-ID hardware in Europe - and is continuing to grow. A central warehouse with several thousand square meters of storage space is connected to the company headquarters near Frankfurt am Main. Products are shipped throughout Europe from here.
To cope with the enormous number of almost 18,000 items ordered daily, Jarltech relies on a proprietary warehouse management system consisting of a specially developed and flexibly adaptable ERP system and various hardware components. The Getac predecessor model of the T800, the E100, has been used for order picking since 2011. An interface was developed for this and all storage locations were reassigned in the system. Since then, the interface has automatically calculated the fastest route to all items and also checks whether the item picked matches the one on the delivery bill. This improved efficiency and quality several years ago, resulting in goods being dispatched faster and virtually eliminating errors in the process.

"Processes must run smoothly and not be delayed by hardware failures. This is exactly what Getac guarantees with the T800."Ulrich Spranger CEO Jarltech
As part of the further digitalization of company processes, the use of the robust tablets is now to be extended to all remaining warehouse areas, such as incoming goods or the set-up department. Getac's E100 was getting a bit long in the tooth on the hardware side and was now also end-of-life. The challenge was therefore to find a successor to Getac's E100 that would be able to cope with the growing demands on the location and employees in the warehouse and logistics area without significant additional financial expenditure or loss of quality in the relevant areas of the company.
High device requirements in the warehouse

Jarltech had clear requirements for the device to be used: for use in the warehouse area, the optimal hardware had to be particularly robust, dust and water resistant as well as shockproof. Bluetooth, a large, easy-to-read multi-touch display and an integrated spare battery were also essential to enable an undisturbed workflow. From the perspective of future users, a low weight and intuitive handling were also important.
Several products from different manufacturers were tested by a project team to ensure that they met the extensive requirements. Other important criteria such as trouble-free operation of WLAN and Bluetooth, the response of the touch display, the integration effort and, of course, the price were also taken into account. The T800 from Getac performed best of all the devices tested in this comparison. The reliable use of the predecessor model E100 also spoke in Getac's favor. The integration of a total of 40 new tablets took place gradually within the respective warehouse areas and proved to be a complete success after only a short time.

Uninterrupted work thanks to SnapBack battery extensions

The employees at the Jarltech logistics center particularly appreciate the compact design, low weight and easy handling of the T800. Thanks to 600 nits, the multi-touch display is always easy to read, even in changing light conditions. Jarltech does not have to make any compromises with the T800, especially when it comes to robustness. The tablet is IP65-certified and therefore resistant to dust and splash water. Even drops from a height of up to 1.8 m or vibrations are no problem for it.

Intra means: For me too!
Generally speaking, we women definitely associate the term gross motor skills with something masculine. But not us, they do! Even though the word is feminine. And yet: robust end devices are a great thing for everyone - how much do you think my cell phone has to put up with in my handbag all day long? At a professional level, tablets such as the T800 from Getac show that not all tablets are the same in the tough everyday life of a warehouse and that subtleties such as the readability of the display or the integrated spare battery are decisive.
Reliable batteries are particularly important for mobile tablets at peak times. Thanks to the integrated reserve battery, these can also be changed quickly during operation without having to shut down the system - saving time. The positive overall impression of the T800 is rounded off by its range of accessories. Various hand straps, shoulder straps and vehicle mounts make the tablet as flexible as possible.
