Linde Material Handling: Linde Reverse Assist Radar
The Linde Reverse Assist Radar has been nominated as Product of the Year 2025 in Category 4 Software and Sensor Technology.
Reversing with forklift trucks is an often underestimated risk. One of the main reasons for this is the driver's restricted view to the rear. The Reverse Assist Radar from Linde Material Handling is a sensor-based assistance system that detects both moving and static objects that are located behind the forklift truck in the travel path. The unique selling point of the solution is its powerful braking performance, which, with a force of up to 3 m/s2 , clearly sets it apart from comparable systems. The braking behavior is always optimally adapted to the individual situation. This is ensured by powerful sensors that reliably detect both stationary and moving objects in the rear travel path. Parallel to the speed reduction, the driver is alerted by a multi-stage warning system.
Goods and objects next to the route, for example in block storage areas, are ignored. In this way, the system only reacts to real hazards and avoids false alarms and unnecessary stops. One advantage of the system is that it works reliably under all lighting conditions. Detection at knee height ensures reliable detection of people.
