Rüdiger Grube to succeed Peer Witten as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HHLA

Hamburg, 24.03.2017 - The Supervisory Board of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) will propose Dr. Rüdiger Grube as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the Annual General Meeting. This was decided by the Supervisory Board at its meeting on March 24 and is necessary because the term of office of the current Chairman of HHLA's Supervisory Board, Prof. Dr. Peer Witten, will end at the Annual General Meeting on June 21, 2017 in accordance with the Articles of Association. In addition to Grube, until recently Chairman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Bahn AG, Michael Westhagemann (Industrieverband Hamburg) is to be elected to the Supervisory Board as successor to Dr. Bernd Egert (former State Councillor).
On behalf of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg as the majority shareholder, the Senator for Economics, Transport and Innovation, Frank Horch, commented on the planned change in the chairmanship of HHLA's Supervisory Board:
"We are delighted that Rüdiger Grube, an outstanding logistics manager with a strong affinity for Hamburg, has been appointed to this position. The Senate thanks Prof. Witten for his successful commitment as Chairman of HHLA's Supervisory Board and acknowledges his achievements. During his 10-year term of office, HHLA has enjoyed stable development as the largest employer in the Port of Hamburg. Under Prof. Witten's leadership, the Supervisory Board has also completed the generational change on HHLA's Executive Board."
