Successor to Matthias Magnor
Jörg Herwig becomes new COO Road & Rail at Hellmann
Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has appointed Jörg Herwig as its new Chief Operating Officer Road & Rail (COO) as of March 1. He takes over the position from Matthias Magnor, who has decided to leave the company after 18 years.
In addition to his position as COO Road & Rail, Jörg Herwig will also become Managing Director of Hellmann East Europe GmbH & Co KG (HEE). Together with Patrick Nathe, he will thus form the two-member management board of HEE, in which Hellmann has held all shares since the beginning of this year.
Jörg Herwig can look back on over 30 years of professional experience in the logistics industry: after working for Danzas and Kühne + Nagel, focusing on international land transportation, he moved to Dachser's head office in Kempten in 2007, where he was responsible for business development in various European countries, particularly in Eastern Europe. Since 2011, Jörg Herwig has been responsible for the Road & Rail division for Eastern Europe at Kuehne + Nagel and then for South Eastern Europe at Schenker. In the last two years, as a member of the management board, he was responsible for all land transportation activities, in particular the Schenker AG network in Germany and Switzerland.
With a share of around one third of global group turnover, the Road & Rail division is already Hellmann's strongest product segment and will be further developed in the coming years together with Jörg Herwig and his international team. The aim is to expand the German and European network for general cargo and part loads. A particular strategic focus here is on expansion in the growth market of Eastern Europe via HEE. This not only represents an increasingly important trading partner for the EU and Germany in particular, but is also of central importance as a transcontinental corridor to Asia. With the simultaneous expansion of rail and combined transport, the Osnabrück-based logistics service provider aims to make a contribution to climate protection and is thus also responding to increasing customer demands for sustainable transport concepts.
"As the Management Board, we would like to take this opportunity to expressly thank Matthias Magnor for his good work over the last 18 years at Hellmann. He has continuously expanded the Road & Rail division as well as our CEP activities and has successfully driven the development of earnings in this product area. We regret that Matthias is leaving the company and wish him all the best for the future," says Reiner Heiken, Chief Executive Officer, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
"At the same time, we are delighted that we have been able to fill the position with Jörg Herwig. In him, we have gained a land transport expert who not only has many years of international road & rail experience, but also brings a high level of expertise to the strategic development of the product segment. Our common goal is to further advance the topics of digitalization and sustainability in the land, rail and CEP sectors and thus continue to grow internationally in the future," Reiner Heiken continues.
