Successor to Bengt van Beuningen

Martin Schrüfer,

Handover of baton at Port of Hamburg Marketing

Bengt van Beuningen, Head of Communications and Information at Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V., left the Port of Hamburg's marketing organization as planned on 31 August. Having started his career in 1999 in the predecessor organization Hafen Hamburg Verkaufsförderung und Werbung e.V. (HHVW), over the years he has successfully steered the communications work for Germany's largest universal port to the benefit of around 280 member companies from the port and transport industry as well as the Hamburg Port Authority and the City of Hamburg worldwide. Through press relations, the Port of Hamburg Magazine and other communication media and channels, Bengt van Beuningen and his team colleagues have been able to significantly shape the international, sustainable and digital orientation of Hamburg as a port and logistics location and successfully position the Port of Hamburg brand at home and abroad.

"Good teamwork and committed cooperation with member companies, media and institutions were the basis of our success," says Bengt van Beuningen. "Continuous communication and marketing work for a global port like Hamburg over many years is only possible in close coordination with our members and all the partners that make up the Port of Hamburg's maritime network. My special thanks go to all my colleagues at Port of Hamburg Marketing and all our partners for the fact that we have mastered the pandemic-related crisis well together so far and can emerge stronger from it."

Port of Hamburg Marketing CEO Axel Mattern says: "The successful advertising, press and public relations work is inextricably linked with the name of Bengt van Beuningen for the impressive period of more than two decades. He has shown great commitment to the club and I would like to thank him for his work on behalf of the club's committees. I wish Bengt van Beuningen all the best and am delighted that he will continue to offer the logistics and seaport transport industry his extensive expertise and many contacts in the domestic and international media as a freelance communications consultant. With the changes now made in close consultation with our association committees, we are positioning Port of Hamburg Marketing very well and are ideally equipped for the requirements of the near future."

Bengt van Beuningen was most recently responsible for press relations and print products in Port of Hamburg Marketing's new communications department, which was set up in October 2021. He will be succeeded as press spokesman by Ralf Johanning from September 2022. Mathias Schulz, member of the HHM Executive Board, has been in charge of Digital & Live with social media and moving images, trade fairs and events since October 2021 and will take over as Head of Communications from September. Jochen Wischhusen is responsible for HHM's web presence and the entire technology in the areas of IT, studio and video technology and post-production of moving image formats.
