Christa Koenen becomes Chief Digital Officer at DB Schenker
The Supervisory Board of Schenker AG has appointed Christa Koenen as the new Chief Digital Officer. The 49-year-old will take up her new position on September 1.
Christa Koenen is an economist with an MBA and joined Deutsche Bahn in 2004. Most recently, she worked for the IT subsidiary DB Systel, initially as Head of Finance from 2014 and as Chairwoman of the Management Board since 2015. Ms. Koenen has also been Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Deutsche Bahn AG since 2018. Christa Koenen will join the Management Board of DB Schenker as CIO and Chief Data Officer (CDO).
"Christa Koenen has proven in her work for Deutsche Bahn that she is an outstanding leader and can successfully shape complex transformation processes in the IT sector. I would like to thank Ms. Koenen for her achievements to date and am delighted that she will now be bringing her expertise and assertiveness to DB Schenker," said Dr. Levin Holle, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Schenker AG.

Christa Koenen succeeds Markus Sontheimer, who is leaving the company at his own request on May 31, 2021 to pursue new challenges.
