Restart - not quite
For the first issue in the new year 2023, I have the pleasure of welcoming you as the new Editor-in-Chief of the specialist medium materialfluss. However, this is not really a new start. As Editor-in-Chief of our sister magazines handling and INDUSTRIAL Production, I have already been working on the topics of intralogistics and logistics for several years; the new role is therefore a flying change.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my esteemed colleague and predecessor Martin Schrüfer, who has made materialfluss what it is today with passion and dedication over the past few years.
The relevance of intralogistics and logistics for the productivity of German industry remains unbroken. The problems in the supply chain caused by the coronavirus crisis and Russia's attack on Ukraine, as well as the shortage of skilled workers in all sectors, underline the need to modernize our own infrastructure.
There is no shortage of ideas, technologies and solutions for modernization. Digitalization naturally plays an enormously important role; on the one hand in the internal organization of operational processes, but ultimately, especially in logistics, also in cooperation with customers, who want to know at all times where their goods are and whether the delivery is on time.
However, modernization also extends to traditional technical areas, especially from the perspective of sustainability and resource efficiency: Which drives can be used to operate conveyor technology more economically, for example? Or how can savings be achieved in the packaging sector?
This is where we come in with materialfluss: Month after month in our magazine, week after week in our newsletters and day after day on our website http://www.materialfluss.de, we would like to introduce you to tried-and-tested solutions and technologies that will advance intralogistics in your company and make it weatherproof for the next challenges.
I look forward to accompanying you on this journey over the coming years. I would be even happier if you could support us with your experiences and insights. A medium like materialfluss also thrives on feedback from its readers. Please feel free to write to me at: [email protected].
Here's to good and exciting years together,
Yours
Daniel Schilling
Editor-in-Chief
