Editorial Material Flow Market 2017
The calm after the storm
The word turbulent can be used to describe a great deal of confusion, but also liveliness. In this respect, the word fits 2016 quite well: confusion? Yes, if you look at the expansion of the digitalization of our lives and the logistics behind it. But also lively! Just think of the trade fairs, congresses and, not least, the numerous round table discussions that Materialfluss organized in 2016. It was a good year for the industry, sales were good almost everywhere and the technical future of intralogistics is far from over. Sometimes it seems to me that we haven't even reached the end of the first chapter ...

Your feedback on our annual data collection was also very lively, competently supervised and kindly monitored by our assistant Ms. Sanktjohanser. More than 500 companies responded, once again making the Materialfluss Markt 2017 edition the comprehensive annual buying guide for intralogistics. Participation in the user statistics on automated warehouses and picking systems (from p. 20) and automated guided vehicles (on p. 62) was also very high, with almost 200 projects described. With this issue of Markt, the Material Flow team says goodbye to the pre-Christmas hustle and bustle, Christmas cards need to be written, children's punch drunk and at least one or two cookies eaten. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a New Year that leaves you optimistic rather than skeptical. All the best for 2017!
You can read Materialfluss again on February 9 with issue 1-2/17. Both Materialfluss 1-2/17 and issue 3/17 will be published before LogiMAT 2017 (March 14 - 16) - the first must-attend event of the year.
