Röhling Logistics increases gross profit

Röhlig Logistics achieves five-year high with operating result in 2018 and increases gross profit by 7.5 percent to 143.9 million euros The owner-managed logistics company Röhlig is continuing its growth trajectory in 2018, as the latest figures confirm. "We successfully completed our Blue Future growth program, which we launched in 2015, at the end of 2018. In addition to sharpening our product and service portfolio for sea and air freight, we have optimized processes and laid the technical foundations to take the digitalization of our logistics services to the next level. In future, new data and technology solutions will continue to complement our service portfolio. This will put us in an even better position for the future," explains Philip W. Herwig, Managing Partner of Röhlig Logistics.

Rising earnings and cautious outlook for 2019

In the reporting year, the operating result (EBIT) rose to a five-year high of EUR 10.2 million, after EBIT was lower in the previous year as planned due to investments. The gross profit generated increased by 7.5% and amounted to EUR 143.9 million. "Thanks to our successful Group restructuring, we have increased our productivity and profitability as well as our gross profit. Due to volatile markets and weakening economic momentum, we are facing a challenging year. However, with our global Röhlig network, we are well prepared for the shifts in trade flows on the global market," explains CFO Hans-Ludger Körner.

Sustainable growth in air freight and contract logistics

Thanks to the implementation of numerous initiatives and projects, all business divisions increased their gross profit compared to the previous year. In the air freight segment in particular, gross profit increased significantly by 14.3%. The successful sales initiatives in the air and sea freight business resulted in synergies in contract logistics. In Germany, South Africa, China, Australia and New Zealand in particular, well-known customers were acquired, generating growth of 14.8%.

Röhlig will continue to focus on digitalization projects in 2019. Philip W. Herwig comments: "In the future, we will continue to expand our position as a provider of high-quality logistics services in the digital world. We are already constantly improving the digital services we offer our customers: Numerous functions have been added to our Röhlig Real Time booking platform, meaning that hazardous goods and refrigerated transport can now also be ordered online, for example."
