New building for the birthday

The Fiege Group is celebrating its 150th birthday this year. Over the past century and a half, the family business from Greven in Westphalia has developed from a small haulage company into an international logistics service provider with 23,500 employees.

A milestone birthday: On September 14th, the family-owned company Fiege celebrated its 150th anniversary at the Port of Münster. Right in the heart of Münster, the logistics service provider from Greven in Westphalia is currently building a new and ultra-modern office building, where around 500 employees will continue to write the Fiege story from next summer.

The celebrations were held on the construction site, so to speak, but the setting was nevertheless festive: the speakers in front of over 100 invited guests included the company's co-CEOs, Felix Fiege and Jens Fiege, as well as North Rhine-Westphalia's Minister President Hendrik Wüst and Münster's Lord Mayor Markus Lewe.

Cousins Felix Fiege and Jens Fiege, who are the fifth generation to run the company together, used the celebrations primarily as an opportunity to say thank you. Felix Fiege explained: "With our 150th birthday, we are celebrating a very special milestone in our company's history. We know that this privilege is anything but a matter of course. That is why we would like to focus today on our 23,500 colleagues worldwide, who have made this great team achievement possible in the first place."

The logistics company Fiege was founded in 1873 as a haulage company in Greven, Westphalia. In the early years, the farmer Joan Joseph Fiege carried out small courier services and transported coal with his horse-drawn cart. With the purchase of the first trucks in the 1920s, the company entered the long-distance transport business, heralding its first phase of strong growth. In 2014, the then managing directors from the fourth generation of the family handed over the business to their sons Jens Fiege and Felix Fiege, who have been at the helm of the company together ever since and were honored as Family Entrepreneurs of the Year in 2021.
