It specializes in modification activities for trucks, buses and vans and carries out the corresponding adaptations according to individual customer requirements. The Modification Center in Wittlich produces various special vehicles every day. MAN Individual in Wittlich has been relying on the logistical support of Elsen Logistik, which is located in the immediate vicinity, since 2013.

300 pallet spaces for modification orders

At its headquarters in Justus-von-Liebig-Straße, the logistics service provider manages around 300 pallet spaces for the storage of goods that MAN requires for its modification orders. This includes a wide range of products, from axles and seats to pre-assembled fitted kitchens in large lattice boxes. MAN uses Elsen's logistics areas in particular for the temporary storage of large-volume products such as pre-assembled fitted kitchens. This also applies to products that are not called up quite so frequently, i.e. are needed in the Modification Center. Some fast-moving items, on the other hand, i.e. products that are regularly installed, are stored by MAN on site.

Modification logistics for special vehicles

"Our employees pick the parts we store with project precision and just in time. If MAN orders something from us today for a modification project, the goods reach the site on the same day. Our service is therefore similar to a production-accurate delivery, where we deliver goods directly to the customer's production line on time," says Martin Bell, Operations Manager at Elsen in Wittlich. The goods are delivered to the site either directly from MAN or from its suppliers. Elsen therefore also handles the incoming goods. In the case of deliveries from third countries, the logistics specialist can also provide support with customs clearance thanks to its own customs department.
