Ledvance and Hellmann launch strategic collaboration
Ledvance, supplier of light sources and luminaires, has handed over part of its European warehousing to the internationally active full-service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. In addition to the central Ledvance warehouse in Molsheim, France, Hellmann has been supplying retailers in Europe with Ledvance's comprehensive portfolio of lights and lighting products from warehouse locations in Spain and Poland since the fall of this year.
While Ledvance continues to operate its existing warehouse in Molsheim under its own management and primarily serves the Central European markets from there, Hellmann Contract Logistics has opened a distribution center in Borox, Spain, to supply Spain and Portugal. In addition, a further warehouse location is being established in Wroclaw, Poland, from which the trade in the Nordic countries as well as in Eastern and parts of Western Europe will be supplied. This reduces the distance traveled to customers by 1 million kilometers per year, which not only shortens delivery times but also saves considerable amounts of CO2.
The new 20,000 m2 campus in Poland will be operated by Hellmann exclusively for Ledvance and should be fully operational by the end of February 2023. The aim is to implement both pallet and individual order picking in order to supply supermarkets, DIY stores and wholesalers quickly and efficiently from Wroclaw.
"We were looking for a logistics service provider who would support us as a long-term partner for the further development and implementation of our efficient and future-proof distribution and logistics network in Europe. Hellmann convinced us with a state-of-the-art concept that meets all our requirements for modern warehousing. The cooperation is an important addition to our team in Molsheim and allows us to react flexibly and agilely to the constantly changing market requirements in the area of operations. What's more, as partners at eye level, we are united by our long-standing company tradition, in which sustainable innovation development has always been of central importance to both sides," says Gareth Jackson, COO Ledvance.
"We are looking forward to implementing our innovative concept for Ledvance across Europe. We have been established as a full-service provider in both Spain and Poland for many years and can rely on a strong team. We are hiring around 80 new employees in the new warehouse in Wroclaw alone and are thus contributing to our growth strategy in the contract logistics sector," says Volker Sauerborn, COO Global Contract Logistics, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
