Hellmann Worldwide Logistics: Successful financial year 2016

Osnabrück, 31.07.2017 - Hellmann Worldwide Logistics can look back on a positive business performance in 2016. The logistics service provider generated consolidated Group sales of around EUR 2.3 billion in the past financial year. At Group level, total turnover of over EUR 3.0 billion was generated.
In 2016, Hellmann increased its gross profit by around EUR 75.6 million to EUR 607.9 million and thus increased its gross profit by around 14% compared to the previous year. After taking into account all depreciation and amortization, operating EBIT before extraordinary expenses amounted to EUR 46.5 million, resulting in an EBIT margin of 2.0%.
The company's performance in the past year reflects the realignment of the Hellmann Group that was initiated in 2015. Hellmann is positioning itself for the future with extensive structuring measures. As part of the concept, numerous structural, operational and financial measures will be implemented up to and including 2018 in order to optimize the Group's structures. Important steps in this context include the establishment of three product divisions and an overarching management holding company as well as the change of name to a European stock corporation (SE) in the fourth quarter of 2017.
"With the realignment last year, we set an important course for the successful further development of the Hellmann Group. The prerequisite for the successful implementation of the restructuring measures was the constructive, good cooperation within the management and the Board. The positive Group result in the double-digit million range exceeds the forecasts, and I am confident that we will increase the result even further this year," says Dr. Thomas Knecht, CEO. Jost Hellmann, Managing Partner, also shares this positive assessment of the business performance. red/cd
