Start of training
Hellmann trainees start their working life digitally from home in 2020
Contrary to the tradition that all new Hellmann Worldwide Logistics trainees meet for the kick-off at the headquarters in Osnabrück, the meeting is taking place digitally and decentrally from home for the first time in times of Corona. The global full-service provider equipped the 153 new employees with mobile devices where necessary to ensure that the virtual training kick-off went smoothly.
The prospective trainees will be introduced to their new working environment and the company throughout Germany via an interactive all-day video conference. After each trainee has already spent a day at the new training company on 3 August, the second day of the kick-off will be dedicated to virtual networking: a digital program is intended to convey the spirit of the family business and its corporate philosophy to the career starters right from the start. After an official welcome by Sven Eisfeld, Managing Director Germany at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, the program continues with an introduction of the trainees to each other and to the branches. Pre-recorded videos help to provide an overview of the locations and the respective business areas. In addition, virtual role plays and an active lunch break with a specially booked fitness trainer will liven up the day's program.
The trainees are spread across 26 branches, where they are starting both commercial and industrial apprenticeships and dual study programs. "We are delighted that so many new colleagues have decided to train at Hellmann," emphasizes Sven Eisfeld, Managing Director Germany at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. "Despite the corona-related adjustments to working life, we are doing everything we can to make the start of their careers as exciting and helpful as possible for the trainees, even in these extraordinary times," Eisfeld continues. "This requires a departure from normal practice, but with creativity and the usual degree of flexibility in logistics, we will master this challenge well, as this year's kick-off has already impressively demonstrated. Our young colleagues will get a direct feel for how agile the logistics world is."
