Hellmann receives Otto Heinemann Prize
The logistics service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics was awarded the Otto Heinemann Prize "For the compatibility of work and care" at the 8th Berlin Care Conference.
The award, which is under the patronage of Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmeier, recognizes companies with innovative concepts for supporting employees who care for relatives in need of care alongside their work.
Hellmann won in the category "Employers with 251 to 5,000 employees" with its preventative and at the same time proactive concept: according to Hellmann, the compatibility of family and career has always been firmly anchored in the company philosophy and is a central component of the HR strategy. In recent years, the company has developed a wide range of support measures for affected employees, particularly due to demographic developments. This not only involves caring for senior citizens, but also for children with disabilities. In addition to flexible working hours and far-reaching home office regulations, the company grants additional vacation days for caring for relatives and offers numerous advisory services as well as emergency care specifically for children with disabilities.
"We are delighted to have been awarded the Otto Heinemann Prize and to have our commitment to a better work-life balance recognized. All colleagues who care for relatives alongside their work are true role models and it is therefore important to us as an employer to create the best possible conditions for this. The majority of people in need of care today are looked after by working family members and I think that we should also share this great social responsibility as a company and employer," says Christa Stienen, Chief People Officer, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
