Geodis puts multi-user logistics facility into operation

In December, Geodis officially opened a newly built multi-user logistics facility in Aurach, in the district of Ansbach. It has 26,757 Euro pallet spaces in the high-bay warehouse and 9,000 m² of block storage space and is equipped with a photovoltaic system. The new facility has direct transport links to the Nuremberg metropolitan region. With the new logistics center, the company is optimizing its market access to one of the strongest economic regions in Bavaria and is continuing its Europe-wide expansion as a global transport and logistics service provider.

Around 100 new jobs have been created at the Aurach branch location. In addition to the 75 employees in the warehouse, 25 employees work in administration and management under the leadership of branch manager Bernd Feyerabend. With 28 loading ramps and 4 ground-level gates, the new Geodis logistics center offers customers from the e-commerce sector a wide range of services for the distribution of large electrical appliances, consumer electronics and furniture, for example.

Antje Lochmann, Managing Director of Geodis Contract Logistics activities in Germany, is delighted with the successful launch of the logistics center, which was set up and tested in the first two halls back in October. The 3rd and 4th halls were commissioned at the beginning of November. "In terms of transport, our new logistics center in Aurach is directly connected to the A6 freeway, which is part of the important Paris-Prague long-distance route. The project development and construction of the new facility were carried out in close cooperation with more than ten participating companies. Added to this was the expertise of Geodis colleagues from locations in France, Italy and Germany, who provided excellent support to the team in Aurach with their knowledge and experience during the planning and technical setup of our new WMS system," says Antje Lochmann.

The mayor of Aurach, Simon Göttfert, welcomed Geodis as a new business partner that is investing in the region and thus creating new jobs. He also praised the good cooperation of all parties involved in the construction, which enabled a smooth process right up to the opening
