Weiz site to be expanded
Craiss creates new capacities for Siemens Energy
The company Craiss Generation Logistik Austria has announced an expansion of its site in Weiz, Austria. It is to be expanded by around 20,000 square meters. This is Craiss' response to the increasing requirements of technology customer Siemens Energy. Construction work began with a ground-breaking ceremony on October 8.
"Our aim is to secure the long-term competitiveness of Siemens Energy while maximizing our own growth potential. The proximity to our customer's plant enables us to react quickly and flexibly to their needs and offer tailor-made logistics solutions," explains Michael Craiss, Managing Director of Craiss Generation Logistik Austria. The expansion should be completed by the beginning of 2026 and provide the electrical and energy technology manufacturer with additional production space.
Strategically favorable location
Since the opening of the "Dedicated Warehouse" in 2021, the logistics company in Weiz, Eastern Styria, has been offering specialized services that go beyond conventional warehouse logistics. Due to its proximity to Graz, the Managing Director sees the region as strategically favorable. "We see ourselves as a long-term partner for both our customers and the region. The collaboration with the local authorities and our customer during the planning phase was extremely cooperative," emphasizes Craiss.
Focus on sustainability
The expansion comprises around 20,000 square meters of warehouse and production space, 10,500 square meters of additional outdoor storage space and more than 600 square meters of office space. The expansion will enable the company to consolidate its external warehouses, thereby increasing efficiency and reducing costs and emissions. One advantage of the expansion is the proximity to the railway siding, which is used for both the production facility and the logistics center.
The expansion strengthens the location and at the same time focuses on sustainability. District heating and photovoltaics are part of the concept. To further minimize the ecological footprint, Craiss is investing in electric trucks, which will be commuting between the production facility and the logistics center from November this year.
