Company acquisition
Dachser acquires majority stake in Dachser & Fercam Italia joint venture
As of March 28, 2024, Dachser has acquired 80 percent of the shares in the joint venture Dachser & Fercam Italia. This completes the acquisition of the majority of the general cargo and contract logistics divisions of the Italian logistics company Fercam.
Following the competition law review and approval by the EU Commission in November 2023, Fercam began to separate its two business divisions Distribution and Logistics with almost 1,000 employees and 43 locations in Italy from the company and to form an independently operating organization for general cargo and contract logistics in Italy. The Dachser & Fercam Italia joint venture commenced operations at the beginning of the year.
Investment in logistics capacities in Italy
After a transition phase, Dachser joined the company on March 28, 2024 and the purchase was completed. 20 percent of the shares in the joint venture remain in the possession of Fercam S.p.A. The business divisions Fercam Transport (national and international road and rail transport), Fercam Air & Ocean and Fercam Special Services (art and trade fair logistics, removal and relocation services as well as archive services and document management), including all foreign companies, are not affected by the transaction and remain wholly owned by the Fercam Group.
"Dachser & Fercam Italia completes our European network for the transportation and warehousing of industrial and consumer goods," says Burkhard Eling, CEO of Dachser. "With this acquisition, we are strengthening our expertise in serving customers throughout Europe with uniform quality and performance standards. To this end, we will also invest in logistics capacities, digitalization, climate protection and especially in our employees in Italy."
Start of full integration into the Dachser network
Dachser and Fercam are linked by a twenty-year partnership in which the South Tyrolean family-owned company has already distributed general cargo shipments with industrial and consumer goods from the European Dachser network in Italy and fed corresponding shipments from Italy into the European network. Full integration into Dachser's systems and processes can now begin.
