New CEO
Change at LGI: Andreas Bunz leaves, Bernd Schwenger takes over
After almost 24 years at the helm of LGI Logistics Group International GmbH, CEO Andreas Bunz has announced his resignation in late summer 2019. "I have decided to hand over responsibility for LGI for personal reasons," says Bunz. His successor will be Bernd Schwenger, who is currently responsible for the Automotive and Electronics divisions at LGI.
"We as the management are delighted to have found exactly the right person for the position in Bernd. He is an exceptional leader and has the expertise to lead LGI into the digital future," explains Bunz. Schwenger wants to optimally prepare LGI for the digital transformation of the economy. "As a provider that manages the entire value chain, we need to use existing data and information in such a way
that we offer our customers added value," says the 46-year-old.
The prospective CEO looks forward to his new role with confidence and respect: "I am aware that I am not simply taking over the position of CEO, but that I am following in the footsteps of LGI's founder". Schwenger has gained logistics experience in various management positions at HP and Amazon and has implemented international projects. In mid-2018, the 46-year-old moved to LGI as Managing Director Amazon Logistics and had
took over the management of the Automotive and Electronics divisions.
"It was important to us as management that the new CEO not only has broad logistics experience but also has his heart in the right place and fits in with the LGI culture," says Bunz. In late summer 2019, the 60-year-old will hand over the chairmanship of the management board to Schwenger. There is no exact date yet. "We will use the time until then for an ideal handover," LGI's CEO continues.
Bunz has managed the company since it was founded: "I never dreamed that the first 160 employees would become over 5,000 almost 25 years later and that we would generate over half a billion in turnover. Together with Managing Director Eckhard Busch, who has also been at the helm of the company from the very beginning, the 60-year-old has played a key role in shaping LGI's principles. During his time as CEO, Bunz has overseen all of the company's major milestones
including several changes of ownership.
