50 new e-trucks for Gruber Logistics

Gruber Logistics will expand its fleet by 50 electric trucks over the next two years. The European logistics company is also planning to set up its own charging infrastructure for the electric vehicles.

The company follows a multi-brand strategy when expanding its fleet. The vehicles come from the manufacturers VOLVO, SCANIA and IVECO, with whom Gruber Logistics works closely. They will each have a total weight of 44 tons and, depending on their use, a range of 300 to 350 kilometers.

With the sustainable expansion of its fleet, Gruber Logistics wants to continue its pioneering role on the road to decarbonizing road transport. This also involves the question of which sustainable fuel can replace the diesel drive and whether the solutions available today can already represent a real alternative.

"For us, investing in e-trucks is not a change of perspective, but a continuation of our path towards decarbonization. We are not assuming that there will be one alternative fuel in the future that is preferable to all others. Rather, there will be a mix of solutions in the future, ranging from environmentally friendly fuels to electric solutions and the use of hydrogen. Our goal is to create the most sustainable vehicle fleet in Europe," explains Stefan Knapp, Executive Director Fleet at Gruber Logistics.

The South Tyrolean company has been promoting the use of alternative fuels from biomass such as bio-LNG and biodiesel for several years now. To this end, Gruber Logistics has carried out numerous tests with various new technologies. The logistics company is also already using electric vehicles in distribution transport with a total weight of up to 25 tons.

"As Europe's largest logistics market, Germany is the country in which we expect the highest proportion of investment. But we will also be using electric vehicles in Italy, Poland and the Benelux countries," says CEO Martin Gruber. As part of its partnerships with the three vehicle manufacturers, the logistics
logistics company is not only involved as an early adopter of new technologies, but also provides support in vehicle development and prototyping projects.
