Self-propelled Innenlader

Combilift is presenting the COMBi SPI self-propelled inloader for the first time at Bauma 2025. It was designed as a solution for transporting loads of up to 30 tons on standard inloader pallets.

In search of an efficient, easily maneuverable and cost-effective alternative to trailers and towing vehicles, the development of the COMBi SPI began in April 2022. The specifications for the system included good visibility and maneuverability as well as ease of use.

The concept was developed in collaboration with Spaansen, a manufacturer of precast concrete elements. The initial prototypes focused on minimizing the overall length and width, as well as optimum manoeuvrability for use in active production facilities. At Spaansen's request, the project was pursued further as an all-electric solution. This required a completely new design, as the electric drive for the wheels and the associated replaceable batteries now had to be integrated into the Innenlader.

Various drive options and good maneuverability

The side-facing cab gives the driver a clear view of the load and the direction of travel, ensuring greater safety and precision. In addition, the COMBi SPI has adjustable supports along the chassis to adapt to different load lengths and heights while driving. The pivoting front dual wheel configuration eliminates the need for suspension, optimizes stability and ensures a tighter turning circle. The COMBi SPI is available in electric (with interchangeable battery system), diesel and LPG drive to suit different operating requirements. The short chassis improves load support, ensures a low center of gravity and offers more maneuverability, especially when used in production facilities.

Developed for heavy loads

According to the provider, there is no need for a large number of trailers and shunters. This makes handling bulky, heavy loads more efficient and reduces operating costs. "This project demonstrates Combilift's commitment to innovation and customer-focused design," explains Josh Moffett, Heavy Equipment Manager at Combilift. "We were able to draw on our decades of experience in the design and manufacture of specialized material handling equipment to develop this novel solution for the concrete and glass industries."
