10-year anniversary
Torwegge Netherlands celebrates anniversary
What began with a business plan by two young Dutchmen led to the opening of the intralogistics specialist's Dutch site in Sprang-Capelle in September 2009: Torwegge's first foreign branch will be ten years old this year.
The team, which now consists of five people, distributes Bielefeld conveyor technology in the Benelux countries and France from the North Brabant region. Still on board: the initiators from the very beginning, John Broeks and Patrick Nieuwenhuijzen.
"Important milestone for the company"
"The fact that John Broeks and Patrick Nieuwenhuijzen took the idea of founding a branch abroad further and convinced the management at the time with their plan was an important milestone in the development of TORWEGGE," says Torwegge Managing Director Uwe Eschment.
Start with wheels and castors
Initially, Sprang-Capelle only sold wheels and castors. However, the demand for intralogistics solutions and components grew, so that more and more conveyor technology components were added. The idler roller business in particular experienced an upswing. The number of staff was also increased: Broeks, Global Sourcing and Product Management at TORWEGGE Wielen B.V., and Nieuwenhuijzen, Branch Manager at TORWEGGE Wielen B.V., were joined by one office employee and two sales representatives.
Starting signal for further expansion
The opening of the branch in Germany's western neighbor was the starting signal for further expansion into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Today, the company employs over 140 people at five locations across Europe and works with sales partners in Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia and Russia.
