There's traction behind it: BETA EL electric wire rope winch

The BETA EL electric wire rope winch from the Pfaff-silberblau brand of Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products is used primarily in industry as well as in stage and building technology. The winch has now demonstrated its performance capabilities in a project for sister company Pfaff-silberblau Verkehrstechnik:

A special BETA-EL design with drum release pulls heavy diesel locomotives onto a rotating platform for the Turkish state railroad. The trains that the electric cable winch has to move horizontally weigh more than 100 tons. The winch is anchored in the middle of a rotating platform. If a train needs to be pulled onto the platform without motor power, the user manually uncouples the drum from the winch, pulls the pulling cable horizontally without operating the winch electrically and attaches it to the train with a hook. The user then locks the drum back in place and activates the power-operated BETA EL from a cabin. A frequency converter for infinitely variable speed regulation ensures a smooth start of the locomotive, which is now quickly pulled onto the rotating platform. The BETA EL is available in many variants, for example in a single or multi-part design or with a pressure roller.
