Beumer presents new crossbelt sorter

Beumer promises more flexibility on a small footprint with the new BG Sorter Compact CB. According to the manufacturer, this development from the sorting and distribution technology business unit optimizes performance and product life cycle costs.

Intelligent software and the ability to analyze data should make this possible. The sorter is easy to integrate, works with low energy consumption and is accurate. Among other things, courier, express and parcel services should be able to react confidently to the increasing volume of shipments and higher throughputs with this innovation.

The volume of shipments handled by courier, express and parcel services (CEP) is increasing. Shipments range from small items and letters to parcels of various sizes and dimensions. With their existing sorting systems, they are often unable to react to these changing market conditions in good time.

Logistics and distribution centers are therefore increasingly asking for high-performance sorting and distribution systems, as their existing systems often no longer achieve the required throughput. Solutions with a zero error rate are also required. "A high degree of automation and ergonomic operation are also becoming increasingly important for companies in order to relieve their employees and enable them to work more efficiently," says Thomas Wiesmann, Director Sales Logistic Systems at the Beumer Group. It is also important to leave as small an ecological footprint as possible.

To respond to these trends and provide its customers with the best possible support, Breumer has developed the BG Sorter Compact CB - and presented it to the public for the first time. The system is suitable for different items - both for small, lightweight consignments and for parcels weighing up to twelve kilograms. Thanks to the gentle sorting process, goods that are fragile or not machine-friendly can also be handled.

The new sorter requires little space and can be flexibly adapted to local conditions. The system combines Beumer's cross-belt technology (CB) with intelligent design. It is characterized by a tight cycle and small radii. It is also possible to integrate infeed units and end points in a small space. Operators can easily expand their existing system with the new compact BEUMER sorter - as required - and thus adapt to changing conditions.

"The sorting accuracy of our new compact system is almost 100 percent," promises Wiesmann. "This is because the items are not sorted by weight, but actively ejected." The automated process replaces strenuous manual sorting - and therefore also increases throughput.
