Major order for the Swiss
Retail chain H-E-B implements several Micro Fulfillment Centers with Swisslog
Swisslog, an intralogistics automation company headquartered in Switzerland, has been awarded a contract to support the San Antonio, Texas-based retail chain H-E-B in meeting the growing demand for online order fulfillment. Swisslog is working with H-E-B to implement a series of Micro Fulfillment Centers.
Micro Fulfillment Centers will strengthen H-E-B's leadership position in the retail industry by simplifying online order fulfillment and bringing it closer to the customer. This will enable the retail chain to efficiently meet the growing demand for curbside pickup, i.e. pickup stations outside the store, without compromising the in-store shopping experience.
Swisslog has already implemented more than 2,000 projects around the world. The company offers a range of automation solutions and software for grocery stores' online fulfillment strategies: whether hub-and-spoke concepts, complementary automation solutions for department stores, small fulfillment centers or fully automated grocery stores.
"We at Swisslog are pleased that H-E-B is relying on us to equip its facilities with state-of-the-art automation and software," said Mitch Hayes, Vice President of E-Commerce and Retail at Swisslog Region Americas. "COVID-19 and changes in customer behavior have made automation even more urgent in many areas of the grocery business. Automation in the online grocery business is no longer an option - it is an increasingly necessary requirement to survive and grow as a business." H-E-B's new Micro Fulfillment Centers are implemented using the AutoStore system with Swisslog SynQ software and picking stations. This goods-to-person solution is one of the most flexible automation systems for order fulfillment in the online grocery business.
H-E-B is a privately owned retail chain based in San Antonio with more than 400 stores throughout Texas and northeastern Mexico. The company also operates the Central Market chain, a fresh produce market that has been called a "foodie's amusement park. Founded in 1905, the company has more than 110,000 partners (employees) and an annual turnover of 25 billion US dollars.
