Reduce emissions
Rhenus launches first program for CO2 reduction in air freight
Rhenus Logistics Air & Ocean has introduced the world's first program to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the air freight sector. The Rhegreen service enables customers to select "greener" aircraft types for their own air freight shipments.
Select aircraft type, reduce carbon dioxide emissions
The system established by Rhenus calculates which aircraft type has the best carbon footprint for a particular route. The calculation system has been validated by an external organization and should enable reductions of ten to 40 percent in carbon dioxide emissions. Rhenus is now offering the Rhegreen service from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to five destinations: Chicago, Mexico City, Mumbai, Shanghai and Singapore. There are also plans to expand the service to include points of origin such as Frankfurt, Brussels and Madrid in the coming months.
Suppply Chain: sustainability is becoming more important
"The demand for a sustainable supply chain is constantly increasing. Rhegreen is an important step towards offering our customers the opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions in air freight. This free service enables us to shape a more sustainable future together with our customers," said Tobias Bartz, a member of the Rhenus Management Board. Rhegreen is one of several projects from the Rhevo corporate initiative, which is aimed at all employees and is intended to promote innovative ideas for processes and offers through digital concepts and establish new ideas for services.
