New deep-freeze warehouse
Wiesbauer Gourmet automates with Klinkhammer
Wiesbauer Gourmet Gastro GmbH, a catering supplier from Sitzenberg-Reidling in Lower Austria, has commissioned the system integrator Klinkhammer Intralogistics to build an automated, three-aisle deep-freeze warehouse, which also includes the corresponding conveyor technology and sequencing workstations.
Wiesbauer was founded in 1931 and developed into one of the leading companies in the meat processing industry in Austria. Today, Wiesbauer Gourmet supplies high-quality meat and sausage products to the upscale gastronomy sector. In the last financial year 2024, the Wiesbauer Group generated a turnover of 237 million euros, with Wiesbauer Gourmet Gastro GmbH accounting for around 83 million euros.
Capacity of over 21,000 parking spaces
When building the new deep-freeze warehouse, the focus was on automation in order to optimize work processes and relieve staff of physically demanding tasks. The planned automated small parts warehouse is operated at around -22 °C and has trays as loading aids. These enable cartons and goods of different sizes and heights to be transported safely. With a capacity of over 21,000 storage locations, the warehouse offers sufficient space for flexible warehousing.
Ergonomic workstations
The system is supplemented by a manually operated pallet warehouse that serves as a replenishment warehouse. Particular attention was paid to the design of the order picking workstations, which are located in a temperature-controlled area at around +5 °C. Additional sequencing stations are available at these workstations in order to prepare the trays in the optimum order for order processing. Stacking stations ensure buffering and overtaking of the trays and guarantee uninterrupted work. Particular attention was paid to the ergonomic design of the workstations to make it easier for employees to work in cool but not freezing conditions. Goods are stored, retrieved and pre-picked in this area at moderate temperatures. The workstations are equipped with scales to enable the picking of goods by weight.
The logistics system is controlled by the KlinkWARE warehouse management software, which ensures that all material flow processes run smoothly. The entire system can be displayed in dynamic overviews using the KlinkVISION visualization software. This enables rapid alarm diagnosis and thus further increases the operational reliability and efficiency of the processes.
