Fully automated warehouse in Pilsen
Intralogistics solution for Pilsner Urquell
Together with its customer Pilsner Urquell, System Logistics celebrates the official opening of a new warehouse in Pilsen, the home of the world-famous Pilsner Urquell beer.
With exports to more than 50 countries around the world, Pilsner Urquell is a leading beer producer in the region and the largest beer exporter in the Czech Republic. The requirements were clearly defined: An innovative, fully automated warehouse that not only reduces costs, but also CO2 emissions. Increasing cost efficiency and environmental sustainability are common requirements for the intralogistics solutions that we implement, which means that we already have a high level of expertise in these areas.
A high-bay warehouse with a capacity of 16,000 pallet spaces (≙ 18 million beers), which is supplied via a 0.5 km long automatic electric floor conveyor with a total of 28 transfer carriages, not only increases storage capacity by 20 percent, but also saves space and transportation costs. In addition, the retrieval capacity has been increased by 50 percent: Now, up to 290 pallets per hour can leave the warehouse.
The customer placed particular emphasis on reducing CO2 emissions. The electric floor conveyor significantly reduces the need for environmentally harmful forklift trucks and the storage and retrieval machines are equipped with state-of-the-art recuperation technology. There are also plans to install a photovoltaic system on the roof of the building, which will cover up to 30 percent of the warehouse's energy consumption. The long-term aim is to make the warehouse energy self-sufficient.
