28,000 square meters
Multi-user warehouse in the greater Mumbai area
Rhenus Warehousing Solutions India has opened a new multi-user facility in Bhiwandi, India. With an area of around 28,000 square meters, it is one of the largest warehouses in the greater Mumbai area. This strengthens the company's role as one of the most important players in integrated logistics in the country.
The warehouse logistics specialist is focusing on storing chemical and petrochemical products - a large part of the space has already been allocated to the polymer expert Covestro. Rhenus is optimizing operational efficiency and scalability in the new multi-user facility, even for large volumes. A modern warehouse management system, fully equipped loading and unloading docks and appropriate storage and conveyor technology are used to ensure fast storage and retrieval. The facility fully complies with the globally applicable standards for health, safety and environment (HSE). Sustainability is also highly relevant for Rhenus in India: building features such as a solar system and rainwater treatment contribute to climate friendliness at the new site. The logistics service provider is also gradually equipping other large facilities with solar systems in order to make the future of logistics on the subcontinent more sustainable.
Rhenus India has established itself as an expert in chemical logistics with its specialized facilities and a customer base of internationally active chemical companies. Covestro also relies on the customized solutions and flexible working methods in Bhiwandi. The company develops precursors for polyurethane foams, coatings, adhesives and sealants at 50 production sites worldwide. Anand Srinivasan, Managing Director of Covestro India, describes the good cooperation as follows: "We have grown thanks to and together with Rhenus.
Rhenus has a clear focus on HSE, works in a process-oriented manner and understands our customers' requirements precisely. As a long-standing customer, we would like to thank Rhenus for its performance to date and look forward to an even closer partnership in the future."
"Our state-of-the-art warehouse in the heart of Mumbai's logistics hub enables us to meet the increasing demand for individual warehousing solutions from our customers in India and also promote our own growth. In addition to the innovative hardware, Rhenus offers further advantages for customers: Last but not least, our specially trained, experienced team makes us the preferred logistics partner locally," says Vivek Arya, Managing Director of Rhenus India. Achim Fabig, the German Consul General, said at the opening of the facility: "Bilateral trade between India and Germany is constantly increasing. Today, more than 1,800 German companies maintain business relations with India. I would like to congratulate the Rhenus Group for being an excellent trading partner in India for more than six decades. With the opening of two new multi-user warehouses, one in the capital region of Delhi a few months ago and now this one in Mumbai, Rhenus has taken an important step in expanding its logistics presence in India."
The new multi-user facility, which is strategically located near the financial and business metropolis of Mumbai in western India, also meets the high demands of other sectors such as FMCG, retail, industry and manufacturing by offering a wide range of warehousing and distribution services. Rhenus Warehousing Solutions is represented in India with 31 sites and a total storage area of more than 230,000 square meters and is continuing to grow.
