Inceptio deploys autonomous driving system in China

Inceptio Technology, developer of autonomous driving technologies for heavy trucks, is increasingly deploying its autonomous driving solutions for refrigerated logistics service providers in China. This results in cost savings and increased efficiency on long-distance routes. Inceptio's long-standing customer Shandong Deshun Cold Chain Logistics has been using the autonomous driving system on several routes since August 2023.

Deshun Logistics is a medium-sized company with a fleet of over 100 trucks that provides refrigerated logistics services in several Chinese provinces, including Shandong, Hebei and Inner Mongolia in northern China, where it operates three 6X4 heavy-duty trucks equipped with Inceptio's autonomous driving system.

Autonomous driving technology for trucks

Lianfu Yu, CEO of Deshun Logistics, tested the Inceptio-powered trucks himself: "With conventional driving, you use your hands, feet, eyes and brain. With Inceptio, you only have to use your brain, which results in noticeably less fatigue. If you feel drowsy, the truck is equipped with effective warning and alarm devices to prevent an accident."

As CEO of a logistics company, safety is also a top priority for Yu. "More than half of our drivers have been working for the company for more than ten years and we are committed to their safety. Autonomous driving technologies help us to do this," says Yu. Mr. Ding, head of a fleet team at Deshun Logistics, agrees that the Inceptio trucks are a significant improvement in this area: "The autonomous driving experience is much better in terms of driver safety," he said.

Fuel consumption reduced

"The safety benefits also benefit the company's bottom line in the form of lower insurance premiums," Yu added. And that's just the start of the cost savings. "It used to take two drivers to cover a distance of 1,000 kilometers, but with the Inceptio Autonomous Driving System, we can cover the same distances with just one driver," said Yu. "We also save a lot of money per route because we reduce fuel consumption by 5 liters per 100 km. Overall, the annual operating costs per truck are almost halved, which is why we are giving preference to Inceptio trucks in our future procurement plans."

Drivers share in savings

Ding added that Deshun Logistics passes on some of the savings to the drivers, thus increasing the income of the entire fleet: "Let's assume we earned 3,000 RMB for the 600-kilometer round trip. In the past, this would have been shared between two drivers. Now these 3,000 RMB go to a single driver. In addition, the company saves around 400 RMB in fuel costs for the trip. The system reduces our fatigue and allows us to drive longer distances every day and earn more, we are delighted!"
