Shaping change in logistics

From October 19 to 21, 2016, the 33rd German Logistics Congress will take place in Berlin at the Interconti and Schweizerhof hotels. Under the motto "Shaping change", the three-day event will focus on arguments and opinions, facts and analyses, contacts and networking, and professional exchange among colleagues from many areas of business and science. BVL is once again expecting more than 3,000 participants. Exhibitors and sponsors will be offering information and opportunities for discussion at their stands and in the lounges.

Program highlights

With the promise of Alexander Dobrindt, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the participants will now experience three transport ministers on the three days of the congress: In the opening sequence on Wednesday, October 19, the BVL welcomes the Danish Minister Hans Christian Schmidt, on Thursday H.E. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications in Bahrain, and at the end on Friday afternoon the Federal Minister of Transport.

Royal visit at the gala evening

The gala on the evening of the first day of the congress will be royal. HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark has agreed to talk to Prof. Thomas Wimmer, Chairman of the BVL Management Board, about the importance of infrastructure, the planning and implementation of major projects and the involvement of citizens. The starting point is the planned fixed link across the Fehmarnbelt.

65 hours congress program

Participants have the opportunity to attend 16 specialist sequences and take part in four excursions. These outdoor sequences will take them to the railroad infrastructure company Spitzke, Lekkerland, DB Mindbox and the DIN German Institute for Standardization.

Meet the Expert

"Meet the Expert" is an extension of the content on offer in the exhibition area. In three moderated technical discussions, experts from exhibiting companies will provide information on the topics of software, logistics real estate and risk management.

Facts and analysis

Four tracks under the keywords Transformation, Digital, Industries and Science and Research each offer the full range of current logistics topics in four separate sequences. The topics include change management, urban logistics, pharmaceuticals and healthcare and digital transport management. Prof. Wolfgang Kersten, project manager of the current BVL study Trends and Strategies, will present the initial results of his research work. Various logistics think tanks will share their work with congress participants. Non-logistics experts will explain their new business models - and thus provide impetus for the logistics sector. Other topics include the cloud and data security issues, the challenges in the automotive industry and in mechanical and plant engineering - and the image of the logistics sector.

Lighthouse projects in practice and theory

The German Logistics Award for particularly innovative logistics solutions will be presented during the gala on the first evening of the congress. Three candidates will compete in the final for the Logistics Science Prize in Berlin. Their topics: Economic efficiency of electronic commercial vehicles, process optimization in transport logistics and decentrally controlled material flow systems. They will present their work on the afternoon of the first day of the congress. The Science Award ceremony will take place on the Friday of the congress at 11 a.m.
