Focus on all pillars of sustainability
The Logistics Sustainability Award recognizes companies from industry, trade and services as well as cooperative research projects whose solutions and results are relevant in all three pillars of sustainability - ecology, economy and social responsibility.

Combined transport and modern equipment
LKW Walter was awarded the 8th Sustainability Award Logistics 2019 at the 35th Logistics Dialogue of BVL Austria in Vienna. With its concept, the company wants to contribute to reducing the number of trucks on the roads. To this end, Lkw Walter has made a voluntary commitment to shift road transport to rail and ship as part of combined transport and is investing in modern combined transport equipment.

"A strong signal for sustainable logistics"
The company is continuously expanding its combined transport network from Austria, Germany, the Benelux countries, Great Britain and Scandinavia to Southern and Eastern Europe in the form of unaccompanied trailers by train or ship. LKW Walter is also increasingly focusing on environmentally friendly engine classes and the optimization of transport planning. "BVL Austria and BVL Germany are sending out a strong signal for sustainable logistics with the Logistics Sustainability Award, which is recognized throughout Europe. The international nature of the competition for the best sustainability initiative underlines the importance of the award for the winner and the entire logistics sector. The award-winning projects and solutions - such as LKW Walter's for combined transport - provide impetus and show new ways forward," says Roman Stiftner, President of BVL Austria.
