Smart storage systems from Kasto
Warehouse technology and digitalization are at the heart of KASTO's trade fair presence at LogiMAT 2023 in Stuttgart. In order to immerse visitors in the world of Industry 4.0, the storage specialist has set up a separate "Smart Solutions Corner" area at Stand 1H16 in Hall 1. Components from the tried-and-tested UNITOWER and KASTOecostore tower storage systems for long goods and sheet metal will also be on display. These make work easier for users thanks to new, smart features.
New solutions and approaches are needed in intralogistics in order to meet customers' increasing demands for speed and flexibility while at the same time withstanding high cost pressure and international competition. Warehousing, sawing and handling technology specialist KASTO will be demonstrating the potential of digitalization in its "Smart Solutions Corner" at LogiMAT. Here, the experts will be presenting the KASTOlogic warehouse management system (WMS), which they have designed specifically for long goods and sheet metal storage.
Control and monitor material flow
Many companies already rely on fully automated long goods warehouses, which score points for their high storage density, short access times and maximum stock transparency, among other things. With KASTOlogic, users can not only control and monitor the processes in the warehouse, but also the logistics and processing steps before and after. Even manually operated areas can be integrated into the system using the KASTOlogic mobile app. The user can transmit all processes such as storage and relocation, picking, shipping and stock information to the WMS via smartphone or tablet.
A so-called pick-by-crane system can also be implemented effortlessly with KASTOlogic mobile: The user uses the app to instruct a connected overhead crane to automatically position the desired storage and retrieval processes using the corresponding coordinates.
Tower storage systems: Avoid mistakes
The second highlight at LogiMAT is KASTO's tried-and-tested tower storage systems, which make work easier for users with their new functions. For example, the UNITOWER long goods and sheet metal storage system is available with an integrated pick-by-light function. This guides the operator intuitively to the required item with the help of a light beam. This saves a lot of time and avoids errors. The technology is particularly helpful when the pallets or cassettes are divided into several compartments. It is integrated into the KASTO warehouse control system and receives information from it as to which item is to be stored or retrieved for the respective order.
The UNITOWER bearings are controlled by KASTO's own ProControl and ExpertControl systems. KASTO's sophisticated service concept ensures high availability: this not only includes round-the-clock telephone advice, fast spare parts supply and competent on-site support, but also remote monitoring via the Internet.
With another tower storage system, the KASTOecostore, KASTO has a compact and standardized solution in its portfolio. It can be used to store sheet metal, pallets and flat goods in different formats. The automated system impresses with its small footprint and high storage density, flexibility in picking up materials and short access times. The load handling devices are automatically stored and retrieved and brought to the optimum loading and unloading height using a lifting mechanism. A comprehensive safety concept prevents malfunctions and avoids costly downtimes.
KASTOecostore also comes with the AdvancedControl machine control system as standard. This is easy to operate thanks to an intuitive user interface with touchscreen. This allows fast and error-free operation, even with frequently changing operators.
And that's not all. KASTO offers many other modern storage systems for sheet metal and long goods in all sizes and automation levels with the appropriate software. The possible areas of application are as varied as the stored goods themselves - from bar materials, profiles, cassettes and pallets to sheet metal packages.
