Storage- and racking systems: Linde Material Handling builds up team of experts for intralogistics solutions

"Digitalization is creating completely new approaches in intralogistics to control work processes across the board and with maximum efficiency," says Andreas Krinninger, CEO of Linde Material Handling. In order to exploit this potential, companies need partners who think outside the box and offer solutions that go beyond their traditional field of business.

In addition to forklift trucks, Linde Material Handling has long been offering networked vehicles, automation, fleet management and system technology such as narrow-aisle trucks and tugger trains. In combination with racking systems, conveyor technology and order picking equipment, complex projects are implemented that optimize the entire material flow in a company. In future, this expertise and the range of products and services will be strengthened and further expanded by a group of experts led by the new Vice President Intralogistic Solutions, Markus Schmermund.

"The team's task is to further develop the range of solutions and establish uniform approaches and standards," says Krinninger. In addition, Linde's consulting services are to be expanded with regard to warehouse and material flow planning and inventory optimization, and uniform, software-based logistics systems are to be introduced.

Markus Schmermund believes Linde is excellently positioned for this task. "The approach of meeting every requirement for a vehicle or fleet application on a customer-specific basis requires a deep understanding of each customer's problem - this is the best prerequisite for being successful as an intralogistics solution provider," says Schmermund. In future, a kind of "modular system" will be developed to implement and network modular and scalable solutions. Schmermund: "This will enable us to meet the diversity of our customers' business models and their individual requirements."

Over the past 20 years, Markus Schmermund has worked in various operational management roles and as a management consultant in the logistics and intralogistics industry. Most recently, he was Vice President Enterprise Solutions at SSI Schaefer.
