AR Racking builds storage system for Nicaragua's largest warehouse

Nivea skin cream, cream of tomato soup from Campbell's, chocolate from Hershey's, tablets from Boehringer Ingelheim - the Nicaraguan company Dicegsa Distribuidora Cesar Guerrero imports a large number of well-known European consumer goods and pharmaceutical products, supplying over 20,000 companies in the country.

AR Racking, the Spanish specialist in storage solutions, has been commissioned to build a new distribution center for Dicegsa in collaboration with Manisa, its local partner company in Nicaragua. The center will be built on the new road to León, near Managua. By bringing together all of this company's warehouses, a kind of logistics park is being created that will be the largest of its kind in the country.

Largest logistics park in Nicaragua

The new logistics park for Dicegsa in Managua includes a 7,250 square meter warehouse. It can store goods from 300 containers, doubling the company's storage capacity. The AR Racking team designed a self-supporting storage system for this purpose - an ideal solution for storage at great heights. The high-bay racking itself forms part of the structure of the warehouse building, saving the construction work of a traditional warehouse. The structures not only bear the weight of the stored goods, but also the load of the outer walls and withstand external forces.

Self-supporting system offers space for almost 8,500 pallets

The erected, self-supporting system reaches a height of 16 meters and offers storage space for 8,468 pallets. It comprises six loading levels and 22 single and double rows of racking with single or double depth. The warehouse consists of different selective storage zones for high, medium and low rotation products, for which the optimum system has been selected. This can be a mobile system or a refrigerated chamber with a controllable temperature.

The expansion of its storage capacity enables the company to import larger quantities. The distribution capacity has also increased; it will exceed the previous 7,500 products.
