High throughput and the introduction of AI at Dematic
Dematic is bringing several innovations and standardized automation solutions to LogiMAT 2020. Among other things, the new micro-fulfillment solution will be on display. The automation system is specially tailored to the requirements of retailers with high throughput rates and assembles orders fully automatically within an hour.
With this solution, Dematic aims to set new standards for omni-channel distribution. Thanks to its compact design of just under 900 square meters, it can be installed in urban areas directly at the back of a retail store or as a separate urban fulfillment center. This ensures shorter distances to the end consumer and shorter delivery times.
Another highlight is the premiere of the Multishuttle 2 E with a live demonstration. It stores, buffers and sequences products between the warehouse, picking and order picking. In addition, pallet storage has been optimized with Dematic Pallet Unit Storage Handling (PUSH). This is a modular system made up of tried-and-tested components that can be configured to meet specific customer requirements. The system works according to the modular principle: it is assembled from individual components according to requirements, resulting in short installation times. Thanks to its compactness and high storage density, the available space can be optimally utilized. Compared to a manual pallet warehouse, 20 percent of the space can be saved here. The throughput rate is up to 400 pallets per hour.
Dematic uses the Automated Mixed Case Palletizing System (AMCAP), a high-performance system for the sequenced, fully automated palletizing of different goods and packaging units on pallets or roll containers, to illustrate the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence (AI) in intralogistics. The scalable design enables flexible throughput rates of several thousand packs per hour in multi-shift operation.
