Equipped with a safety concept, FAB GmbH from Waldshut-Tiengen is bringing manual storage and retrieval machines out of the shadowy existence of the automated version. Whether in industry or retail, time- and space-optimized logistics is a key success factor. Without the use of storage and retrieval machines (SRMs), efficient storage and retrieval in high-bay warehouses would not be possible. The concept offers permanent distance, speed and position monitoring in the direction of travel and lifting. This is realized via a safety PLC. This ensures precise speed and exact positioning. The lifting axis is secured by a special catch and holding brake, so that the lifting carriage is held at the travel and picking position even when stationary. The safety components are partially redundant, so that if one component fails, another takes over.
