Stefan Sonntag is the new Managing Director
Management change at Mercedes-Benz Vans Mobility
Stefan Sonntag (49) has taken over the management of Mercedes-Benz Vans Mobility GmbH. He succeeds Frank Braband, who has now taken over the management of the rental business at Athlon International. With Stefan Sonntag, an experienced manager is taking over as head of the specialized van rental company from Daimler. The business administration graduate can look back on a long career within the Group and brings extensive experience in sales and the rental business to his new position.
He began his career in 1999 with an international trainee program at Daimler-Benz Aerospace in Munich, before moving to Berlin at the end of 2000 to work at Mercedes-Benz CharterWay, where he built up the truck and van rental business. In 2005, he became Head of Operations at Daimler Fleet Management for the European market. From 2007, Stefan Sonntag was Head of After Sales Service Passenger Cars at Mercedes-Benz Sales Germany, before moving to the VAN division in 2013. After heading Product Management and Marketing, he took over responsibility for the sale of new vehicles in Mercedes-Benz Vans Sales Germany as a member of the Executive Board. In this role, he was responsible for the new vehicle sales business as a wholesale function, including direct business, as well as for supporting key accounts and fleets.
"We see great potential in the van rental business and are delighted to have gained an experienced sales professional in Stefan Sonntag to further expand it," says Gero Goetzenberger, CEO Athlon. "He knows both the requirements of sales and the dealer network very well, with whom we want to continue to work closely in the van rental sector in the future.
